Despite India's recent defeat, Rishabh Pant's explosive batting display in the first Test has captured the attention of cricket legends. Former England captain Michael Vaughan is among those praising Pant's fearless approach.

While Pant's twin centuries at Headingley weren't enough to secure a win, his aggressive style has drawn comparisons to some of the game's greats.
Vaughan commented on Pant's unconventional methods on the Stick to Cricket show. "There's a lot of science in that madness, the way that he plays," Vaughan stated, noting the admiration even from opposing players like Ben Stokes. "You can see even Ben Stokes is admiring when he's batting."
Pant's audacious shots have sparked debate and excitement, leading to comparisons with legendary wicketkeeper-batters.
Vaughan acknowledged Adam Gilchrist's status but noted, "Adam Gilchrist is the best wicketkeeper-batter for me, but Pant just set a new trend. MS Dhoni was brilliant in white-ball cricket, but Pant's Test record is far superior to his white-ball numbers."
Alastair Cook and David Lloyd echoed the praise, with Cook highlighting Pant's determination: "That smile doesn't mean he doesn't like to win," Cook noted. "You don't score two centuries and not really want to. He could've relaxed after the first, but didn't."
Despite Pant's individual brilliance – scoring 134 and 118 – India's batting lineup faltered, and the bowling attack, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, lacked consistency. England successfully chased down a target of 371.
The second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is scheduled to begin on July 2nd at Edgbaston.
