Prithvi Shaw, once celebrated as the future of Indian cricket, is reflecting on pivotal advice he received from Sachin Tendulkar during a challenging phase in his career.

Shaw's early career was meteoric. He shattered records at 15 and captained India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup at 18. His Test debut century fueled predictions of a legendary career. However, this rapid success was quickly followed by distractions.
Shaw acknowledges a period where he lost his way, admitting to poor choices and a decline in discipline that negatively impacted his focus on cricket. This led to missed practice sessions and misplaced priorities. Consequently, he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji team and went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction.
During this period of adversity, Sachin Tendulkar, a long-time mentor, offered unwavering support. Tendulkar, who had observed Shaw's development alongside his son Arjun, remained a steadfast presence.
"Sachin sir knows about my journey," Shaw told News24. "Arjun and I have been friends since we were 8-9 years old. We’ve played together, grown up together. Sir was also there sometimes... He was practicing at the MIG. And I was there too. I spoke to him then too."
Tendulkar's advice was simple yet profound: "'Sahi track pe aa ja, jaise pehle tha' (Come back on the same track as earlier)."
Shaw emphasized the impact of Tendulkar's belief in him. "He still believes in me... Everything is possible in the next 13-14 years. So he believes in me and that means a lot."
These words provided Shaw with renewed hope.
Now 25, Shaw is actively working to revive his career. He has made the significant decision to leave Mumbai cricket and join Maharashtra, seeking a fresh start. He is publicly addressing his past mistakes and rededicating himself to hard work, determined to reclaim what he had lost.
Whether this marks the definitive start of a successful comeback remains to be seen. However, Shaw's commitment to confronting his errors, coupled with the support of figures like Sachin Tendulkar, gives him a genuine opportunity for redemption in the world of cricket.
