Several Backward Classes (BC) associations and Mudhiraj community groups have voiced objections to the portrayal of Veera Mallu, the lead character played by Pawan Kalyan. According to 123Telugu, these groups believe the character draws inspiration from Panduga Sayanna, a folk hero celebrated for his fight against oppression and his support for the poor and marginalized. The core issue is that the film reportedly fails to acknowledge this connection or even reference Sayanna.
Members of the Bahujan and BC communities argue that omitting Sayanna's name and legacy from a character seemingly based on his life is a disservice to their cultural history. Community leaders are demanding clarification from the filmmakers of 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu', urging them to either confirm or deny the connection and, if necessary, make appropriate changes to the narrative.
Some groups are even threatening protests and potential disruptions to the film's release if their concerns are not addressed promptly.
As of now, the production team and filmmakers have not issued an official statement addressing the ongoing controversy.
'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' is a pan-Indian film featuring Nidhhi Agerwal, Bobby Deol, Satyaraj, Nassar, Vennela Kishore, and others. The film's music is composed by Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani.
The movie is slated for a multilingual release on July 24, 2025.
