Actor Vijay, now a politician, has been officially designated as the Chief Ministerial candidate for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This crucial decision was made through a special resolution during the party's State Executive Committee meeting. The meeting took place at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.
Vijay's political aspirations solidify with TVK candidacy
The meeting, led by Vijay himself, also initiated planning for a large-scale state conference scheduled for next month, as reported by NDTV.
Meanwhile, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The recently released teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' has been well received by the public.
Priyamani, an actress with a key role in the film, has voiced her support for Vijay. "I’m super excited to share screen space with Vijay… I hope this isn’t his last film,” she stated in an interview reported by Wionews.
Mamitha Baiju, also a part of 'Jana Nayagan,' shared insights from a recent interaction at the Kerala Carnival in Ireland: "I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing. Vijay Sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”
'Jana Nayagan' boasts a strong cast, including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Previously, Vijay starred in the action film 'GOAT,' which unfortunately didn't resonate with audiences.
