FIFA paid tribute to Liverpool player Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, while Pedro Neto honored his friend before kickoff at the Club World Cup quarterfinal games in Orlando, Florida, and Philadelphia on Friday.

FIFA honored the late Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, with poignant tributes before the Club World Cup quarterfinal matches held in Orlando, Florida, and Philadelphia.

The brothers tragically passed away near Zamora in northwestern Spain. Their vehicle, a Lamborghini, crashed and caught fire on a remote highway in the early hours of Thursday. Diogo Jota was 28, and André Silva was 25.

Emotional Scenes at Stadiums

At Camping World Stadium in Orlando, prior to the Al Hilal versus Fluminense match, players gathered at midfield. A photograph of the Portuguese brothers was displayed on the video board as the stadium observed a moment of silence.

Simultaneously, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, where Palmeiras of Brazil were set to face Chelsea, a black-and-white image of the brothers was shown. Players from both teams wore black armbands as a mark of respect during another moment of silence.

Pedro Neto, the Chelsea player and Portuguese national teammate of Diogo Jota, paid a personal tribute. As he walked onto the field, Neto carried a jersey displaying the first names of both Jota and André Silva. During the moment of silence, Neto, assisted by Enzo Fernández, held up the jersey.

Investigation Underway

Spanish authorities are currently investigating the cause of the single-vehicle accident. Initial reports suggest a blown tire may have been a contributing factor.

Diogo Jota's death came shortly after his marriage to Rute Cardoso, his longtime partner. The wedding took place during a vacation following a successful season with Liverpool, where he contributed to their Premier League victory. He leaves behind his wife and three children.

André Silva was a player for the Portuguese club Penafiel, competing in the country's lower leagues.
