Cristiano Ronaldo has extended his contract with Al Nassr until 2027, committing his future to the Saudi Arabian club. His arrival in 2023 spurred a wave of established players moving to the Saudi Pro League. Despite being the league's top scorer, Ronaldo is yet to win a title with Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo has put an end to transfer rumors by signing a two-year contract extension with Al Nassr, keeping him at the Saudi Arabian club until 2027. The announcement, made on Thursday, follows months of speculation about the football superstar's future.

Cristiano Ronaldo reaffirms his commitment to Al Nassr.

In a video released by the team, the 40-year-old Ronaldo affirmed his commitment, declaring, "Al Nassr forever."

Ronaldo's arrival in 2023 triggered a wave of high-profile transfers to Saudi Arabia, with many seasoned players following suit.

Speculation arose after Ronaldo posted "This chapter is over" following Al Nassr's third-place finish in the Saudi Pro League, a season without silverware.

A source from the Public Investment Fund (PIF) told AFP, "Ronaldo's presence is a key factor in developing the Saudi league in the last two years and a half. He opens the door for elite and young players to come to Saudi Arabia."

The Saudi PIF manages several Pro League clubs, including Al Nassr, Al Hilal, and Al Ahli.

This extension news comes after Neymar's departure from Al Hilal in January. The Brazilian star's 18-month stint was cut short after only seven matches, despite earning a reported $104 million annually.

Despite leading the league with 25 goals, Ronaldo has yet to win any Saudi or continental titles with Al Nassr. The team recently suffered a defeat in the Asian Champions League semi-finals.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner had previously hinted at the possibility of ending his illustrious career with Al Nassr, a team favored by Saudi royals.

Saudi Arabia has drastically reshaped its football scene through substantial investments in European talent, a transformation sparked by Ronaldo's transfer in late 2022. The nation is also preparing to host the 2034 World Cup.

Saudi football fans have had the opportunity to witness renowned players such as Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who together boast six Ballons d'Or, in regular league games.

Some observers have drawn parallels between the Saudi Pro League and the Chinese Super League, which previously attracted players with lucrative contracts before encountering financial challenges.

The Saudi Pro League's growth is aligned with the country's broader objectives of becoming a prime destination for tourism and business before the global demand for oil declines.

Ronaldo initially joined Al Nassr two years ago in a deal reportedly valued at $250 million, marking a significant turning point in his career as he ventured into Saudi Arabian football.
