The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations venturing into this format.
GCA Secretary Anil Patel has officially confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working out key details. These include securing an appropriate window in the cricketing calendar and finalizing the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues across India have emerged as crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing platforms for local talent to shine and potentially earn a spot in the prestigious IPL. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
